Given that MS Dhoni reaches 43 the next year, we can never be too sure, but this may be his last season leading the team. In light of this, we examine three prospective captains that CSK may be able to recruit in the IPL 2024 auction.

3. Karun Nair

Karun Nair had been off the radar for a spell, but he has improved his form in the previous year. He might be the impact player CSK looks for when the IPL season begins. Given how Ajinkya Rahane regained his form after joining Chennai last season, Nair may be considered as a future captain.

Nair, noted for his skill and attitude, might be a beneficial squad player for the organization, occupying a position comparable to Ambati Rayudu. His extensive IPL and international cricket experience adds to his worth.

2. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins, who has been one of the most successful captains this year, is a candidate for Player of 2023. He won the World Test Championship with Australia in June, the Ashes in England with great success, and he played a brilliant role in the World Cup final in November.

Cummins, who has a remarkable IPL past, received one of the highest bids in the 2020 auction from the Kolkata Knight Riders for 15.5 crore.

CSK might be interested in him because of his inspired leadership and ball skills. Cummins also fits the description wonderfully because the team prefers multi-skilled players.

1. Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan, a local youngster, might be a surprise choice for CSK. He did not have a particularly successful white-ball domestic season for Tamil Nadu. The need for Indian domestic finishers has increased even more, and players with Shahrukh’s specific ability to launch aggressive innings from the outset are in short supply.

Shahrukh grasps the circumstances in Chennai. One season with MS Dhoni’s guidance could truly reignite his career. If he rediscovers his talent, he can become a long-term asset, potentially leading CSK down the road.
