Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test team, provided an update on his knee surgery on Friday, December 8. In an image posted on his Instagram story, the well-known all-round player stated that he is doing well. He had bruises and stitches on his knees in the picture.

Unaware folks might not know, Stoke­s decided to pass on the Indian Pre­mier League 2024 se­ason. He aimed to balance his workload be­tter. However, he­’s slated for the five-match Te­st series in India as well as the­ 2024 T20 World Cup. That’s set to unfold in the USA and West Indie­s.

A statement released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) said as follows:

“The Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024.”

When Stokes was last saw playing, he had amassed 304 runs in six games, including two half-centuries, during the 2023 World Cup. He came out of retirement for the historic ICC tournament, but as the reigning champions, England fell short. The team captained by Jos Buttler qualified for the 2025 Champions Trophy by placing seventh in the World Cup points table.

In 19 Test matches, Ben Stokes has guided England to 13 victories and 1 tie. From now on, he will try to perform well in India as a player and captain. Following his operation, Stokes is expected to bowl in addition to captaining and batting during the five-match series.

England Test head coach Brendon McCullum recently stated that despite significant obstacles to perform in the next series against India, the Ben Stokes-led English squad will continue to play in Bazball mode. He was cited as stating during a meeting of the RCB innovation lab in Bengaluru:

“We have got a huge challenge against a very good Indian team in five tests in India. I am excited about it because you want to test yourself against the best side and I genuinely believe that India is the best in their own condition.”
