RCB’s Wayne Parnell dedicated his team’s win over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Mother’s Day to all the moms all over the world. RCB won by 112 runs after bowling out the hosts for 59 runs at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

50s from Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell helped RCB put a competitive total of 171-6 on the board. However, after being reduced to 28-5 within the powerplay, RR were never in the run chase.

In the absence of Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood, RCB’s bowling attack put on a show as RR were overwhelmingly defeated. Parnell was named Player of the Match for his three-wicket haul. Michael Bracewell also contributed with his spin bowling.

In a post-match interview , Wayne Parnell described the day as “special”:

“It is something that we have shared over the last few weeks, it is about staying ready and training hard. I think today was a special day as well. It’s Pink around here, and it is Mother’s Day as well, I would like to dedicate the win to all the mighty mothers out there, and especially my wife, who is really holding the fort at home.”

RCB has 12 points after 12 matches and has fifth place in the points standings at the moment.

Wayne Parnell: “The Sanju one has to be my favorite”

The opening over of the Proteas all-rounder was vital, as it resulted in the wickets of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. The England batsman recorded his fourth duck of the season while the RR captain was dismissed for four runs.

Samson attempted to pull a short length ball around the wicket. He could only shoot the ball skyward and Anuj Rawat caught it.

Parnell said that Samson’s wicket was his favourite of the day. He stated:

“In T20 cricket, the bad ball always gets the wickets. The Sanju one has to be my favorite among the three wickets, because there was a plan to bowl a hard length to him, try to make him play across the line and it worked really well.”

“Great to get back to winning ways, leaving Jaipur with two points, it kind of opens up the table again, and now looking forward to playing SRH.”

RCB will meet SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 18.
