Senior Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Virat Kohli saw his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma on Saturday, May 6, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Rajkumar Sharma recognised Virat Kohli’s ability at his early age in Delhi. Rajkumar also received the renowned Dronacharya Award by the Government of India in 2016.
When Kohli went to Delhi for his IPL match against the Capitals, he made a special gesture to his childhood coach.
During a pre-match training session, Kohli approached his coach and touched his feet to seek blessings before the two became involved in their chat.
It was a pleasure to see a student respect Indian ideals and respect his teacher. The entire event was caught and uploaded on Twitter by the IPL’s official media crew.
Virat Kohli becomes the first player to score 7000 runs in IPL
After RCB chose to bat first against the Capitals in their own backyard, Virat Kohli hit 55 runs off 46 balls. The RCB opener struck only five boundaries on his way to his 50th IPL fifty as the club scored 181 runs in the first innings.
Kohli hit his second boundary of the innings in the second over of the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings, delivered by Axar Patel. That hit helped him reach 7000 runs in the IPL.
Kohli became the tournament’s first player to reach the milestone. He has already scored 7,043 runs in 225 innings, with a strike rate of 129.49 and 50 half-centuries and five hundred.
In the cash-rich tournament, Kohli also reached 1000 IPL runs against the Delhi Capitals. In 27 innings, the Delhi-born cricketer has scored 1,030 runs against the Delhi-based franchise.
