Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on Virat Kohli for his brilliant captaincy in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Thursday. He admired his strategy, particularly in regard to bringing wrist spinner Wanindu Hasaranga into the powerplay, which proved to be a masterstroke and enabled RCB to defend a total of 175.

On his YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh shared his opinion on Virat Kohli’s captaincy:

“Virat was back doing captaincy after a long time and was absolutely brilliant. The way he brought Hasaranga early to dismiss Matthew Short showed signs of good captaincy. He read the match-up perfectly that Short plays pace well and struggles against spin and was rewarded when Hasaranga dismissed the batter.”

Singh praised Kohli for his 59-run knock and his successful partnership with Faf du Plessis. He said:

“King Kohli scored his fourth half-century of this season already. Last year his bat was silent, but this time he has been absolutely on fire. The start given by him and Du Plessis once again was very crucial for RCB to get to a competitive total.”

The former cricketer also discussed skipper’s strike rate and suggested that, although it didn’t have an adverse effect against Punjab, He may want to increase his pace of scoring in the future matches. He concluded by saying:

“Kohli might still want to look a bit at his strike rate in that innings of 59. If he scores a bit quicker and maintains this consistency, RCB will not come in any team’s grasp.”
