On the first day of the second Test in Cape Town, it seems that veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli offered Mohammed Siraj a useful tip about how to arrange for South African all-rounder Marco Jansen to be dismissed.
Following the second ball of the 16th over, Virat Kohli, positioned at first slip, appeared to implore Siraj to force Jansen to play the ball longer, as if he thought it may catch the batter’s outside edge.
Mohammed Siraj did what he was told, and after a few balls, he got the benefits as Kohli’s advice seemed to work like magic. Siraj took his fifth wicket after Jansen was removed from the game after edging a full-length off-stump delivery to keeper KL Rahul.

This morning, Dean Elgar, the South African captain, decided to bat first after winning the toss—a choice that didn’t work out well. For the first three overs, both Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram cautiously faced the new ball attacks from India’s pacers.
However, the fourth over brought a game-changing moment. Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj delivered a top-class ball that saw off Aiden Markram. Siraj didn’t stop there. He dominated the game with his prolonged nine over spell, claiming six wickets in total and causing a major setback to the South African batting order.
With two wickets apiece, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar provided excellent assistance for him as India easily defeated South Africa for just 55 runs in the opening session. After their readmission, this is the lowest total ever scored by South Africa in a Test match. In Test cricket, 55 is also the lowest total a side has ever managed to achieve in an inning against India.
Third-best stats for an Indian bowler in South Africa are Mohammed Siraj’s 6/15. He is ahead of Shardul Thakur (7/61) and Harbhajan Singh (7/120).
