Many Indian cricketers, such as former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, are passionate about automobiles. But their busy travel schedules prevent them from indulging in the luxury of owning multiple vehicles. Kohli, too, has encountered the same issue that caused him to let go of most of his car collection. In a recent episode of the RCB Bold Diaries, Virat Kohli shared that he had come to terms with the fact that collecting more and more cars was a fruitless endeavor.

“Most of the cars I used to own were impulsive buys, I ended up hardly driving or traveling in them as well, Beyond a point, I was like this is pointless, so I ended up selling most of them and now we only use what we absolutely need to.”

“I think it is also part of growing up and being more aware and mature about things as well, you don’t feel like owning ‘toys’ as such, it is about being practical.”

In 2020, an R8 Audi model once owned by Virat Kohli was discovered at a Delhi police station. This car had been purchased by Kohli in 2012, and he later chose to sell it off to Sagar Thakkar in 2016 for an upgrade. However, due to Thakkar’s involvement in a financial scam, the police had to seize the vehicle.

Virat Kohli had a forgettable tournament in 2022 with RCB, despite their relative success in finishing third overall. However, his form and success in all formats in 2023 have reignited his drive, and he is more determined than ever to make an impact with RCB in IPL 2023. In a video released by RCB’s social media handles, the former skipper said:

“I am just back to playing the way I do. There’s still a lot of room to get to my best which hopefully happens in the IPL if I am able to get to the level I want to play at and help the team it will be exciting.”

Virat Kohli recently joined the team’s training camp ahead of the start of the season.
