The anticipation for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is palpable, and all eyes will be on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they look to secure their maiden title. RCB has some of the best players in their ranks, including one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Virat Kohli. Kohli has been in stellar form with his national team and looks set to make an impact in the coming IPL edition. As we look forward to the big event, let’s have a look at three records that Virat Kohli could break this season:

1) Could complete 100 catches in the IPL

Virat Kohli is not only an incredible batsman, but he has also been a tremendous fielder. Kohli has taken 93 catches while playing for RCB, making him the second-most prolific active IPL fielder after Rohit Sharma (97). He is just seven catches away from completing 100 grabs in the IPL as a fielder and joining Suresh Raina (109) and Kieron Pollard (103) in this elite club.

2) Could have the most IPL hundreds to his name

Virat Kohli hadn’t hit an IPL hundred since the tournament began until 2016 – that’s when he completely changed the game. In that season, he made a remarkable four centuries, and then in 2019, he scored another ton against KKR taking his IPL century count to five. His former RCB teammate, Chris Gayle, has scored a record-breaking six centuries in the tournament, so Kohli needs to score a couple more centuries to break the record.

3) Could become the first-ever player to reach 7000 runs

Virat Kohli currently holds the record for most runs in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with an impressive 6,624 runs from 223 matches. However, Shikhar Dhawan is just a little behind, coming in at second with 6,244 runs. With only 376 more runs needed to reach the 7000-run milestone, Kohli will make history this IPL season and become the first player ever to reach the 7000-run mark. In 2021, he became the fastest player to hit 6,000 runs in the league in just 196 innings.
