RCBs shining star Virat Kohli stole the­ show with a spectacular throw from the dee­p to send Shashank Singh packing in the exciting face­off against PBKS on May 9. Despite the uphill task of chasing down 242 runs for victory PBKS showcase­d grit reaching 1465 by the 13th over. Skipper Sam Curran tucked the 4th delivery of the 14th over to deep mid-wicket and looked for a double.

However, an athletic Virat Kohli was having none of it, charging in from the deep midwicket zone and firing a throw that hit the stumps directly in one motion, catching Shashank inches out of the crease at the non-striker’s end.

Shashank’s removal on 37 off 19 precipitated a collapse in which PBKS were bowled out for 181 in 17 overs, suffering a 60-run loss.

PBKS was officially eliminated from postseason contention after suffering their eighth defeat in 12 games. RCB’s big win keeps them in the competition with 10 points from 12 matches.

Before his outstanding fielding heroics, Virat Kohli delivered another batting masterpiece to enable RCB score a whopping 241/7 in 20 overs.

The 35-year-old scored his sixth 50-plus score of the IPL 2024 season, ending with 92 off 47 deliveries, seven boundaries, and six maximums. Virat Kohli presently holds the Orange Cap, with 634 runs at an average of over 70 and a strike rate of 153.51 in 12 games.

It was his second half-century against PBKS this season, following his 49-ball 77 that helped RCB win their previous match. His heroics helped RCB win a fourth consecutive game, keeping their fragile postseason chances alive.
