In the most recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler Varun Chakravarthy again got the better of Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant. This happened during Match 47 of the 2024 IPL season at the Eden Gardens on Monday, April 29.

Varun Chakravarthy had the big hand over Rishabh Pant in their past battles. The bowler had let in just 27 runs in 26 balls from the left-hand bat and had already put him out twice.

Rishabh Pant tried to line Varun Chakravarthy up and took a big swing. But, the ball gripped a bit and the left-hand bat could only sky it up. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer took a simple catch to send his equal number back.

Here’s the video of the dismissal:

After losing early wickets, Pant appeared to get Delhi’s innings back on track and was expected to explode alongside Axar Patel. His expulsion after scoring 27 runs off 20 balls came at just the right time for the Knight Riders.

After Rishabh Pant’s dismissal, it was critical for DC that Tristan Stubbs reunite with Axar Patel. Stubbs had been in excellent form, and KKR needed to make sure he was sent back. Varun Chakravarthy rose to the occasion once more, sending Stubbs back for 4(7).

The South African attempted to cut the throw behind point, but only managed a thick edge, and Phil Salt made a great grab.

Chakravarthy has been the best of the KKR bowlers in this encounter, with stats of 3/16. The hosts had DC reeling at 111/8 until Kuldeep Yadav and Rasikh Salam banded together to survive the storm. The pair is still at the crease at the time of writing, and Delhi will try to bat out the 20 overs and score as many runs as possible.
