The Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s stalwart player, Virat Kohli, was left amazed by his teammate Will Jacks’ remarkable batting display against the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers on Sunday during the IPL 2024 match.

In pursuit of a target of 201 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, RCB made a brisk start, reaching 40 runs within 3.5 overs. However, at that juncture, their captain Faf du Plessis departed after scoring 24 runs, bringing Will Jacks to the crease.

He was hesitant at beginning, scoring 16 runs off his first 16 deliveries. Virat Kohli (70*) looked in terrific flow at the other end, relieving pressure on his partner by scoring runs quickly. It helped Jack to relax into the crease before going insane later.

After the match ended, Kohli spoke. He praised Will Jacks for his brilliant knock. Kohli said it was one of the best centuries in T20 cricket he had seen. The innings was phenomenal.

Kohli reflected on the chase and Jack’s century, saying:

“It was Phenomenal ball striking, initially when he came into bat, he was bit annoyed that he couldn’t strike the ball like he wanted to, but the only conversation we had is to keep backing yourself, keep committing, because we know how explosive he can be. My role changed after that Mohit’s over and I was glad to watch that from the other end, we thought we will finish in 19, but it’s remarkable to finish in 15 overs, one of the better T20 hundred I have watched.”

Virat Kohli added:

“I was having fun at the other end. The wicket was pretty good, towards the later half their innings, it started to settle down, reason why we wanted to bowl first. The wicket just tends to settle down and the ball comes on nicely in the evening.”
