The Royal Challe­ngers Bengaluru team be­at Gujarat Titans. But, they almost lost the match due to some­ batsmen getting out quickly. Still, RCB won by four wickets. This match was playe­d on May 4, Saturday. Swapnil Singh’s crucial contribution in the latter part of the innings ensured RCB’s victory.

In match 52 of IPL 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the­ toss. He asked the othe­r team to bat first. The pitch was tough to bat on. GT could only score 147 runs be­fore losing all their wickets.

Du Plessis then smashed a scorching half-century in the powerplay, propelling RCB to 92 in only 5.5 overs and putting them in control of the chase. However, his removal for 64 (23) in the sixth over resulted in a dramatic collapse in the Royal Challengers’ batting order. The hosts got off track for a time, falling from 92/0 to 117/6 in a matter of minutes.

Dinesh Karthik (21) came in at number seven and struck a couple boundaries to allay the fears of millions of RCB supporters across the world. Swapnil Singh supported him nicely with a cameo of 15 (9) before finishing the game in style with a six on the fourth ball of the 14th over.

Dinesh Karthik Praises Swapnil Singh’s Crucial Sweeps in RCB’s IPL 2024 Win Over GT

After the game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru batsman Dinesh Karthik shared his talk with Swapnil Singh during their match-winning 35-run partnership. He said:

“I told Swapnil to play for the ball. Then he asked me if sweep was the option and I said if you are trying to play it don’t play half hearted and those two sweep shots turned out to be very important.”

Reviewing the game and his team’s performance, Karthik added:

“Yesterday it rained, there was bit of moisture. Was a good toss to win for us but no matter what the pitch it is, it is quite a task to keep them to a score we did.

“The way Faf and Virat batted I don’t think we could have played those shots if we batted first but it’s also there class. It’s a different sort of pressure. It’s different than chasing a big score. The basic cricketing skills comes through.”

The RCB will meet PBKS in the IPL 2024 on Thursday (May 9) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.
