During the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), Dinesh Karthik hit some great shots. He played a short but important innings. This helped RCB win the match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 4.

The contest appeared to be one-sided in favor of the home team for the bulk of the time until the halfway point of the second innings. However, the RCB hitting lineup fell abruptly at that time.

Chasing GT’s aim of 148, the Royal Challengers sailed through the powerplay, scoring 92/0 in 5.4 overs. It occurred after Faf du Plessis scored 64 (23). His absence from the next ball offered an opportunity for GT. They utilized it successfully, reducing RCB to 117/6 in 10.4 overs, raising their fans’ expectations.

Dinesh Karthik handled the tight scenario admirably, ensuring the Royal Challengers’ safe passage to victory with a solid cameo of 21* (12). Swapnil Singh (15*) helped him out as the duo got their team over the line in the 14th over.

After the match, Dinesh Karthik reflected on the victory and said:

“Yesterday it rained, there was bit of moisture. Was a good toss to win for us but no matter what the pitch it is, it is quite a task to keep them to a score we did. The way Faf and Virat batted I don’t think we could have played those shots if we batted first but it’s also there class.”
