Virat Kohli of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was all fired up against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, May 1 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, according to Simon Doull.

That is how Kohli has played his whole career, according to the former New Zealand player. Doull believes that if being aggressive on the pitch brings out the best in the talismanic hitter, he should continue to do so.

Simon Doull told Cricbuzz following RCB’s dominant 18-run win over LSG in a low-scoring affair:

He [Virat Kohli] was very passionate tonight, wasn’t he? Every wicket that went down, it was like he was up. I mean, he plays that way in general terms. I think that’s been one of the great things about the way he has played. If he needs that passion to get himself going, I’ve got no problem with that.”

Kohli upped the ante in Lucknow by going all out during LSG’s run chase. His enthusiasm undoubtedly influenced his colleagues, who produced a magnificent bowling effort to successfully defend a 127-run target.

It’s worth noting that during the second innings, Virat Kohli got into a heated argument with Afghan spinner Naveen-ul-Haq. Following the game, he squared off against LSG coach Gautam Gambhir.

Due to the breach of the code of conduct, Kohli and Gambhir were both fined 100% of their match fees.

Simon Doull stated that the Bangalore-based team thoroughly controlled the second part of the game. He noticed that, despite Lucknow’s attempting to score runs immediately, they were unable to get going.

The former cricketer-turned-commentator also stated that LSG needed to get off to a fast start in the powerplay in order to put RCB on the back foot, explaining:

It was a game that RCB dominated. LSG were found wanting. They kind of tried to do the right thing in the powerplay. They needed to make the most of the powerplay and try and push for runs. They tried but didn’t get it right.”

Krishnappa Gowtham was the top scorer for LSG, scoring 23 runs before being run out.
