Shreyas Iye­r from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Pat Cummins leading SunRisers Hyde­rabad (SRH) engaged in a lighthearte­d banter before the­ monumental IPL 2024 final in Chennai on Sunday May 26. Before­ the grand finale the duo made­ their way to Chennai beach for a photoshoot with the­ trophy.

The IPL X account just posted a video of Shreyas Iyer and Pat Cummins having a fun back-and-forth during a car journey to the beach. Shreyas Iyer joked about riding an auto in his early days and charged Cummins ₹20 crore.

Shreyas Iyer was alluding to Cummins’ ₹20.50 crore price at the IPL 2024 auction. It was the second most expensive acquisition in league history, and SRH named Cummins captain for the 2024 season.

The KKR spinner also questioned the Australian about his time with the team when they won the title in 2014. Cummins was a member of KKR’s title-winning team in 2014, however he only played one game.

Despite­ grappling with limited opportunities the skippe­r of KKR has showcased exceptional prowe­ss accumulating 345 runs at an average of 38.33 and an impressive­ strike rate of 146.18 across 13 innings. The dynamic 29ye­arold illuminated the pitch with a sensational 58run knock off just 24 balls during KKRs re­sounding eightwicket victory against SRH in Qualifier 2.

Meanwhile, Cummins has 17 wickets this season, with an average of 32.23 and an economy of 9.28 in 16 games. Taking over the team that finished last year at the bottom, the 31-year-old helped SRH finish second on the points table before sealing a position in the final with a 36-run win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2.

KKR will be aiming for their third IPL trophy following victories in 2012 and 2014, while SRH will be looking for their second title after winning in 2016. KKR has won both encounters between the sides this season (League stage and Qualifier 1).
