On Day 4 of the third Test between India and England in Rajkot on Sunday, February 19, debutant Sarfaraz Khan reassured his Mumbai colleague Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was on 199. The right-handed hitter advised Jaiswal to be cool and not rush beforehand.

Sarfaraz Khan had lost his wicket and ran out in a similar circumstance to Ravindra Jadeja, who was batting on 99. Jadeja then apologized on social media for making the erroneous judgment, which lost Sarfaraz his wicket.

Jaiswal stated:

“Itna mehnat kiya hu (I have worked so hard).”

Sarfaraz Khan replied:

“Hojayega yashu pehle mat bhagna (It will happen, Yashasvi don’t run beforehand)”

Jaiswal ultimately achieved the double century with a single, and Sarfaraz Khan joined the celebrations. In the second innings of India’s third Test, the left-handed hitter scored 214 not out off 236 balls.

It was his second double ton in the current five-match Test series. He earlier made 209 runs from 290 deliveries in the second Test against England. The southpaw is presently the series’ highest run scorer, with 545 runs in six innings at an average of 109.

Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar excelled in their Test debuts against England, helping India win the third Test by 434 runs and take a 2-1 series lead.

Sarfaraz Khan scored 62 off 66 in the first innings and 68 off 72 in the second, keeping him unblemished. Dhruv Jurel also hit 46 off 104 in the first innings. In the second innings, the wicketkeeper also made a magnificent run out of the dangerous Ben Duckett.

The two will now attempt to build on their impressive performance in the fourth Test at Ranchi’s JSCA Stadium, which begins on February 23.

On the contrary, Rajat Patidar struggled with the bat, scoring five and a duck in two innings. The right-handed hitter had earlier scored 32 and nine in his Test debut in the second game.
