Rohit Sharma, the leader of the Indian Cricket Team, complemented the hit movie “12th Fail” during a recent Q&A session.

The film portrays the journey of a real-life individual striving to be an IAS officer. Viewers and critics loved it. The acting talent of Vikrant Massey and the direction skills of Vidhu Vinod Chopra led its global box office successes – making ₹69 crores on a budget of only ₹20 crores. The movie shone at the Filmfare awards, picking up five statues.

Rohit Sharma and his teammates from India are enjoying a 10-day pause. This gap comes between the second and third Test. These tests are part of a five-match series being hosted at home against England.

Unexpectedly, Team India lost with 28 runs in Hyderabad’s first Test. However, they recovered brilliantly, earning a 106-run victory in Visakhapatnam. This brought the series to a balanced 1-1.

India also just confirmed their lineup for the remaining three Tests, with Virat Kohli missing out and Shreyas Iyer being dropped. However, the hosts have been boosted by the return of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, subject to health.

Rohit Sharma’s Test form: A cause for concern for India

Rohit Sharma’s Test batting form has deteriorated significantly after last year’s West Indies tour.

At 36 year old, he has not hit over 50 runs in his last eight Test appearances. This includes tours in South Africa and England. Despite this, the team from Asia secured a 1-1 draw with South Africa.

The decline in form is perhaps the more shocking given Rohit’s stunning ODI World Cup performance last year, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 597 runs in 11 games. His strong top-order batting helped India go undefeated till they were defeated by Australia in the final.

Rohit Sharma has scored only 90 runs in two Tests against England, with a top score of 39 and a poor average of 22.50. Despite the dry spell, the seasoned hitter averages 61.52 in 26 home Tests.

With the series on a knife edge, Team India will turn to their captain to break out of his slump in the third Test in Rajkot, which begins on Thursday, February 15.
