Ravindra Jadeja the seasoned Indian leftarm spinner is looking forward to spinners playing a crucial role in the impending T20 World Cup Super 8 phase for the Men in Blue. Their matches have been confined to the USA where fast bowlers have had the upper hand courtesy of the prevailing conditions.
However, Ravindra Jadeja has much of experience playing on turning wickets in India, so he knows what to anticipate in the West Indies. With the matches taking place throughout the day, Jadeja believes the ground will be dryer.
Ravindra Jadeja told Star Sports:
“Whenever we play in the West Indies, the wicket remains a bit slow and dry. The match timing is also in the morning so spinners will have help. Even in India, there are many wickets where spinners get help. So it is a good thing that spinners will get help here in the middle overs. You could see spinners being used in the death overs as well.”

Ravindra Jadeja also hinted at the prospect of India receiving a used wicket, given the T20 World Cup has seen numerous matches played at the same venue and pitch. He feels that if they receive a new wicket, the dynamics would change and they will need to adjust accordingly.
Kuldeep Yadav Agrees with Ravindra Jadeja on West Indian Conditions
Kuldeep Yadav akin to Ravindra Jadeja holds prior experience of the playing conditions in the West Indies and predicts that the pitch will be spinnerfriendly. Although Kuldeep is yet to showcase his skills in the ongoing tournament theres a chance he might emerge as Indias trump card in the upcoming Super 8 phase.
Kuldeep Yadav spoke to Star Sports on the significance of length and his experience in the West Indies.
“The spinners do get help in the West Indies and so I think four spinners are picked in the squad. In this format, the bowlers’ length becomes crucial and I have said this many times. I had played the T20I series against West Indies last year and it was a good series for the spinners so I expect similar pitches.”

On June 20, the Men in Blue will face gigantic killers Afghanistan in Barbados as part of their Super 8 phase. They will then play Bangladesh in Antigua on June 22 before finishing the phase against Australia in St. Lucia on June 24.
