Australia batter David Warner is having a lean patch in his career with the bat lately. David Warner lost his wicket cheaply in both innings of the Nagpur Test and was dismissed by Shami in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match for a score of 15. David Warner was not playing in the second innings of the 2nd Test in Delhi due to a concussion. The opener also suffered a minor hairline fracture on his left elbow while batting at the Feroz Shah Kotla on the opening day.
Former Pakistan player Ramiz Raja reckons Australian batter David Warner’s end in Test cricket is near. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Raja said:
“Warner’s batting is 50-50, and he might soon lose his spot from Tests. He also failed in Australia despite a big century. You cannot stop the new crop of batters.”
He further commented on Team Australia, “Nobody thought India would crush Australia in just three days. Their preparation wasn’t good, and the technical game was also down. They should have played three or four-day games before entering the Test series. With quick in and quick out, you cannot adjust. They couldn’t perform in the second Test.”
Warner was struggling throughout his innings in both matches. It was not just against Ashwin, who has a fantastic record against him but also against Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami. It was his third tour, and being a veteran, he is well aware of the Indian pitches as he has been playing IPL in India for 15 years.
David Warner’s struggle against fast bowlers is not new; he has struggled for a long time. David Warner got out to Shami in the first and second Test matches like he used to lose his wicket against Stuart Broad in England. He got injured in the 1st innings of the second Test off Mohammed Shami, and he was not playing the match due to a concussion. However, there is also a question mark about him playing in the third Test.
India and Australia will now play the third Test at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, starting on Wednesday, March 1. India has already taken a 2-0 lead in the series and is all set to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the 4th time in a row.
