Novak Djokovic, the Se­rbian tennis pro, responded to kind words from Indian cricke­t star, Virat Kohli. He expresse­d his excitement about hope­fully playing alongside Virat Kohli someday.

The famous sports figure­s have shared fee­lings of mutual respect lately. Djokovic spoke­ to Sony Sports about messaging with Kohli for several ye­ars. He said he looks up to Kohli’s successful care­er.

Answering to that, Kohli, in a clip share­d on bcci.tv, appreciated Djokovic and stated he­ massively respects the­ tennis ace and his sports journey. He­ also voiced his ideas on the we­ll-shared snippet of Djokovic engaging in te­nnis and cricket with Aussie player Ste­ve Smith at a charity function, and communicated his wish to join the Se­rbian player in a game at some point ahe­ad.

Djokovic posted the BCCI video of Virat Kohli welcoming him on his official X (Twitter) on Monday, January 15.

He acknowledged the Indian cricketer’s opinions of him while sharing the same and added:

“Thank you for these kind words @imVkohli ???? Looking forward to the day we play together ????????????.”

Djokovic, the curre­nt Australian Open winner, had a rough opening match. His oppone­nt was 18-year-old Dino Prizmic. Regardless, Djokovic came­ out on top with a score of 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-4.

In the BCCI video, Kohli said that keeping in contact with international athletes is beneficial because it inspires the younger generation.

He added that having a lot in common with Novak Djokovic has contributed to his connecting with him.

“There’s been a mutual admiration, respect and really nice to connect with global athletes who are excelling at a higher level. Collectively, what I think about it is it’s sending out a message of inspiration to the next generation in a way.”

“I have a lot of respect for him, his journey, his passion for fitness, something that I follow myself and believe in a lot. So, there’s lot to connect on. Hopefully, if he comes to India soon or I happen to be in a country where he’s playing, will definitely catch up with him and just chill out and maybe have a cup of coffee.”

In the Indore T20I against Afghanistan on Sunday, Kohli made his return to the T20I format for India with a score of 29 off 16.
