Today, we remember MS Dhoni’s first international cricket game. It’s been 19 years. His first match was on December 23, 2004. He played against Bangladesh at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.
Dhoni’s debut didn’t go as planned. He batted at the seventh spot and got run out immediately.
But Dhoni didn’t let that stop him. His batting picked up significantly with a fantastic score of 148 in a game against Pakistan. That was on April 5, 2005, in Vizag. After this, MS Dhoni quickly moved up, becoming captain within a few years. He then led a fresh team to numerous victories in world cricket.
In total, MS Dhoni participated in 538 games representing India. He attained 17266 runs, averaging 44.96, and hit 16 hundred-runs and 108 fifty-runs. Interestingly, his introduction and conclusion in international cricket were identical, with him being run out. This was seen in the 2019 World Cup’s semi-final match against New Zealand.
