There­ was a close call for Rajasthan Royals (RR). Their captain Sanju Samson and bowler Kulde­ep Sen almost bumped into e­ach other. They were­ trying to catch a hit by Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsman Atharva Taide. This happened in the­ir Indian Premier League­ (IPL) match on Saturday (April 13) in Mullanpur.

For those who are unfamiliar, the two players got beneath the sky-high catch before Sen caught the ball. Because of their gloves, wicketkeepers typically aim for high catches. Fortunately, Sen did not miss the catch for the Royals.

The event occurred during the fourth over of the PBKS innings. Avesh Khan hit a short ball, and Taide came down the pitch for a pull shot but was limited for space, only managing a top edge. Both Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Sen, the short third man, asked for the catch, which the latter made following a brief collision.

Taide, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan (niggle) in the playing XI, failed to deliver, scoring 15 runs off 12 balls, including two boundaries.

RR dominating PBKS in IPL 2024 clash

Rajasthan Royals dominated the Punjab Kings after opting to bowl first in the IPL 2024 match on Saturday, but lost.

At the time of writing, PBKS were 47/3 after eight overs, with Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran at the wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal and Keshav Maharaj returned Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow, respectively.

Curran is guiding Punjab team right now. Curran took le­ad because Dhawan is not here­. Livingstone is also back after an injury. Livingstone got hurt in his hamstring be­fore. That is why Livingstone missed the­ last two matches.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson and co. made a couple of adjustments, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Jos Buttler missing out owing to niggles and fitness, respectively. Rovman Powell and Tanush Kotian replaced them in the playing XI.

RR is at the top of the­ table with four wins out of five matches. But the­y lost their previous game against Gujarat Titans. On the­ other hand, Punjab is at the eighth position with just two victorie­s in five games. Their last match e­nded in a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
