SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a setback against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they lost star opener Travis Head for a golden duck in the IPL 2024 final at Chepauk on Sunday, May 26. This was Head’s third duck in the past four innings for SRH.

There was enough swing in the air for Vaibhav Arora to exploit, and the bowler bowled an absolute gem to the Australian. Pitching at a decent length, the ball nibbled away, and Head attempted to deflect the delivery towards third man.

However, he only got an outside edge, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz made a superb low grab to throw the Kolkata Knight Riders teammates into a frenzy.

Here’s the video of Travis Head’s dismissal:

The way the KKR fielders celebrated demonstrated how significant the wicket was in terms of the occasion and what Head is capable of in the finals of such major tournaments.

One of the most crucial things KKR had to accomplish with the ball was to prevent SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head from exploding and giving their side another ‘Travishek’ start.

However, that was not to be in the IPL 2024 final, as Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora gave Kolkata a flying start. Starc delivered an absolute peach, allowing Abhishek to score only two runs. Arora’s dismissal of Head landed the SunRisers in serious difficulty.

Rahul Tripathi attempted to play several shots, but he whacked one straight up into the air, and Ramandeep Singh made a fantastic catch to give Kolkata their third breakthrough.

Aiden Markram produced a couple strokes to give SunRisers some momentum, but Nitish Kumar Reddy’s wicket has once again put the batting side on the back foot, with KKR in cruise control with the ball at 47/4 as of writing.
