In the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final versus England, Team India’s Jasprit Bumrah castled Phil Salt with a wonderful slow delivery. On Thursday, June 27, the opening batter was removed for five runs in the run chase at Guyana’s Providence Stadium.

Jos Buttler got England off to a strong start in their 172-run chase. However, the Men in Blue made a significant statement when Axar Patel dismissed the England captain with the first ball of his session. Rohit Sharma used Jasprit Bumrah for his second consecutive over in the powerplay to increase the pressure, and the strategy paid off.

Jasprit Bumrah kept things tight by allowing only one run in the first half of the over and effectively shifting the tempo throughout. Phil Salt attempted to take the pacer on with a heave through the offside. However, he didn’t interpret the delivery as a sluggish off-cutter. As a result, he was way too early into his stroke, and the ball nibbled off the surface to hit the leg stump, giving India a crucial strike.

Team India ended the powerplay on a strong note, with Axar Patel dismissing Jonny Bairstow in his second over. The wicketkeeper hitter attempted to negotiate a delivery through the off side, but the left-arm bowler caused the ball to drift through and hit the stumps. Bairstow left with a three-ball duck.

After a tumultuous power struggle, England has entirely lost control. India has made a solid start to the middle overs, with spinners dominating the middle order. As of writing, Axar Patel has struck for the third time, sending back Moeen Ali with a superb stumping, and the score is 46-4 in the eighth over.
