The broadcasters projected a symbol of a tree when a dot ball was bowled in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
It was a part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s green initiative to promote environmental sustainability. The Indian cricket board has planned to plant 500 trees for each dot ball bowled in the IPL 2023 playoffs.
This is not a new idea in IPL. The Royal Challengers Bangalore developed the concept of the ‘Green Game’ in 2011. Since then, RCB has worn special green jerseys in one of their home games to raise awareness about the importance of a greener and cleaner environment.
The winner of Qualifier 1 will proceed directly to the IPL 2023 final. The loser will face the winner of the Eliminator between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 for a spot in Sunday’s final showdown.
On Wednesday, May 24, the Eliminator will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Qualifier 2 and final will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday and Sunday respectively.
Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by 15 runs and enter the IPL 2023 finals
In yesterday’s Indian Premier League 2023 Qualifier 1 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs. CSK not only won their first IPL game against GT, but they also qualified for the tournament’s final for the tenth time.
CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 60 off 44 balls as his team climbed to a challenging 172/7. Pacers Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma excelled once more for GT, both taking two wickets.

Chasing a challenging target of 173, Gujarat never quite got going as Deepak Chahar (2/29), Ravindra Jadeja (2/18) and Maheesh Theekshana (2/28) kept the opposition on the back foot. In the end, GT were bowled out for 157.
Gujarat needed a solid start, but Wriddhiman Saha fell for 12, pulling Chahar to deep backward square leg. Skipper Hardik Pandya’s (8) poor run continued as cut Theekshana to point. Dasun Shanaka (17) was the next to go, caught while attempting a reverse sweep off Jadeja. The left-arm spinner also cleaned up David Miller (4) with a skidder.
