Indian cricket’s fast bowler, Mukesh Kumar, wasn’t chosen for the third England Test. This match was in Rajkot on Thursday, February 15. Mukesh’s spot was taken by Mohammed Siraj.

Mukesh is now going to play with his Bengal team. He’s set to compete in the last Ranji Trophy match versus Bihar. They’re playing at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The game starts on Friday, February 16.

Mukesh will then return to Ranchi to join the Team India team for the fourth Test of the series.

“UPDATE: Mr Mukesh Kumar has been released from the India squad for the third Test against England in Rajkot. He will join his Ranji Trophy team, Bengal, for the team’s next fixture before linking up with Team India in Ranchi,” BCCI posted on Twitter.

Mukesh has a chance to play in the fourth Test against England, as all indicators point to Bumrah being rested for that match as part of fatigue management.

Bengal is eagerly awaiting for his participation to boost their morale and finish the league with a positive note. Their performance hasn’t been impressive recently. Under the leadership of Manoj Tiwari, they’ve only tasted victory once this season. Their recent crushing loss of 109 runs to Kerala sets them at the sixth spot in the Elite Group B of the 2024 Ranji Trophy season.

At the Vishakapatnam second Test versus England, the right-arm bowler’s performance was forgettable. Mukesh Kumar got to play instead of Mohammed Siraj. He, however, secured just a single wicket during the whole match and had a disappointing run rate too.

Mukesh Kumar, the Bengal bowler, had a rough time while Jasprit Bumrah, his bowling teammate, performed brilliantly. He claimed nine wickets and even won the Player of the Match award.

For the third Test against England, Team India chose to bat first. The captain, Rohit Sharma, declared four new changes. These included replacing Mukesh Kumar with Mohammed Siraj.
