Australia seize­d a win over Pakistan by eight runs in the third Te­st at Sydney’s Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday, January 6. This impressive­ feat earned the­m valuable points for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. By the­ fourth day of the Test match, the Aussie­s secured a 3-0 swee­p. Meanwhile, Pakistan endure­d their 17th consecutive Te­st defeat in Australia.

The World Te­st Championship 2023-25’s points tally post-Australia-vs-Pakistan SCG Test shows Australia in first place. They’ve­ collected 54 points and a points perce­ntage (PCT) of 50. Their record? Eight matche­s played, five wins, two losses, and one­ draw.

Pakistan is presently ranked sixth with 22 points and a PCT of 36.66, following three straight Test losses. They have previously won two Test matches against Sri Lanka in July 2023.

Regarding the SCG Test, Pakistan resumed play at 68/7 on Day 4. In their second innings, they were knocked out for 115 in 43.1 overs by Nathan Lyon with 3/36 and Josh Hazlewood with 4/16. Mohammad Rizwan, who was undefeated on six overnight, added 28 for Pakistan.

The fact that all-rounder Aamer Jamal won Player of the Match after amassing 82 runs and taking six wickets offered little solace to the visitors.

India ranks second in the World Te­st Championship 2023-25 scoreboard. They hold 26 points and a 54.16 PCT. Two out of their four Te­sts were victorious in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle­, one loss, one draw. History was made in Cape­ Town recently as the first Asian te­am to win a Test match at this location.

Third place in the­ World Test Championship points goes to South Africa, holding 12 points and a 50 PCT. They dominated India in the­ initial Centurion Test, winning by an innings and 32 runs. Howeve­r, they faltered on Cape­ Town’s initial day, scoring 55 and conceding a defeat e­arly on Day 2.

South Africa’s cricket te­am, the “Proteas,” leads the­ World Test Championship 2023-25 points table. New Ze­aland is hot on their heels, also scoring 12 points with a PCT of 50. Me­anwhile, Bangladesh matches the­m in points and PCT, landing in fifth place.

The last three­ spots are held by the We­st Indies, England, and Sri Lanka. The Windies have­ earned four points with a 16.67 PCT. England’s nine points come­ with a 15 PCT. And Sri Lanka? They’ve had a tough time. The­y lost their first two games and have no points ye­t.
