Former Indian cricket skipper Sunil Gavaskar has strongly criticized ex-Pakistani cricketers for making disrespectful comments about Indian players, which he believes is because players from Pakistan cannot take part in the Indian Premier League. The IPL has been a key factor in bringing players from different countries together, helping to reduce the animosity between them. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that the IPL has cooled off the players’ enthusiasm or reduced the competitiveness between them, with Gavaskar expressing this point clearly.

The well-known Indian cricket player believes that while the IPL has connected people worldwide, there is an exception, with Gavaskar criticizing Pakistan. Except for the first edition of the IPL, Pakistani cricketers were not allowed to take part due to the political hostility between the two countries; this, as Gavaskar believes, has caused some animosity.

In light of the India-Australia Test series, Gavaskar has expressed his opinion. These two teams have had a history of conflict, but there have been no signs of that this time. Gavaskar blamed the media for attempting to undermine Indian players, pointing out how former Pakistani cricketers often try to cast Indian players in a bad light to gain attention on social media. He stated,

“Have you ever heard or read any Indian player past or present saying anything about the players from across the border? Frankly, nobody cares, so no Indian that I know has said anything about the players from across the border. It’s simply not our style. If our online media ignores what is said across the border then it will automatically stop, but our media will publish it even if it is pulling a fellow Indian down.”
