On a momentous day in 2017, Siraj’s childhood dream was realised as he received his first India cap in the second T20 of the three-match series against New Zealand at Rajkot. As India’s national anthem started to play, tears welled up in Siraj’s eyes as the enormity of the moment sunk in.

The match between Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians in Mohali was massively overshadowed by an incident in which the MI captain Harbhajan Singh slapped King’s seamer, S. Sreesanth, leaving the fast bowler stunned and speechless. His teammates quickly came to his aid and helped console him from the emotional shock caused by the incident.
