Lata Mondal, a player representing Bangladesh in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, allegedly received an offer to rig matches during the tournament. The all-arounder claims that the former BAN-W player Shohely Akhter attempted to get in touch with her over the same matter.
“I am not forcing anything. You can play if you want. The fact that I told you can play this time or not. You can choose which match you want to play and offer the match. It is your wish. You did well in one match, and you may play the next game or not. The team management would let you do that.”

The BCB has informed the Anti-Corruption Unit of the ICC about the occurrence that was detailed earlier (ACU). BCB director & women’s wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury made the following statement:
“Our cricketer from the WC squad, who has been approached for match-fixing, has reported it to the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Now, the entire matter will be dealt with by the ACU. We do not have any jurisdiction over these matters as ACU will look into them, but we are aware of it.”
The International Cricket Council (ICC) ought to be immediately aware of events of this nature. The player can incur a penalty if they choose to conceal such sensitive information.
