So far, the all-rounder has taken 100 wickets in 89 Twenty20 Internationals. She has surpassed Poonam Yadav, who had claimed 98 wickets in 72 matches. In totality, Anisa Mohammed of WI-W holds the record with 125 wickets in 117 T20Is.
It is interesting to note that no Indian male cricketer has achieved 100 wickets in T20Is. Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner, is the highest wicket-taker with 91 wickets in 75 matches.
Deepti has been the most successful bowler of the recently completed T20I series between South African Women (SA-W) and WI-W, having taken nine wickets in five matches.
