In the presence of the very effective Mohammed Shami, veteran keeper-battler Dinesh Karthik feels that India’s bowling assault would have seemed much more formidable.

Shami, a key player for the team recently, can’t play in the ongoing series against South Africa. Why? He hurt his ankle.

Speaking to Cricbuzz about his absence, Karthik said:

“The man has grown in stature as a bowler and as a leader of the pack. He is an able lieutenant to Jasprit Bumrah. You can imagine with the upright seam on this kind of pitch. I promise you, he would have definitely gotten a few wickets. The Indian team really misses him.”
