Shubman Gill batted for India against England on the second day of the current fifth Test on Friday, March 8, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

The right-handed hitter hit a four to complete his century in just 137 balls, helping India dominate the opening session. His innings featured five sixes and ten boundaries.

It was his second Test century in the current five-match series and 11th overall in international cricket across formats. Gill also had a 150-plus stand with skipper Rohit Sharma for the second wicket.

Gill has already scored 342 runs in the first four tests against England.

Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma both scored centuries to help India dominate England in the opening session of Day 2.

The hosts were 264-1 at lunch, up by 46 runs, with Rohit (102 off 160) and Gill (101 off 142) at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 57 from 58 balls before being stumped by Ben Foakes off Shoaib Bashir.

Earlier on Day 1, England were dismissed for 218 in 57.4 overs. Zak Crawley top scored with 79 runs off 108 balls, including one six and 11 boundaries. Meanwhile, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Foakes squandered promising starts, leaving in their twenties.

Kuldeep Yadav was the best of the Indian bowlers, returning with a fifer. Ravichandran Ashwin, playing his 100th Test, also took four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja stole Root’s prized scalp.

India now holds a definite­ 3-1 lead in the five-match se­ries. After a loss in the first game­ in Hyderabad, they bounced back. Succe­ss followed in Vizag, Rajkot, and Ranchi. This guaranteed the­ir series victory.
