Fans were thrilled by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s batting efforts against England in the fifth Test. They responded to their knocks by tweeting humorous memes on social media networks.

Here’s some of the finest memes:

India bowled England out for 218 on the opening day, thanks to outstanding efforts from spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma then scored quick half-centuries to lay the groundwork for India’s first innings.

Jaiswal died for 57 (58) at the conclusion of the day while attempting to knock Bashir out of the park. Rohit and Shubman Gill led the hosts to 135/1 at stumps on the opening day by batting intelligently in the final half hour.

Their superb knocks on Day 2 propelled India to the lead and placed them in charge. Just as things appeared bad for England, captain Ben Stokes removed Rohit after the lunch break, giving his team a much-needed breakthrough. Gill was out in the next over against James Anderson in a same way.

Former England player Nick Knight recently praised Rohit Sharma for his ability to handle pressure and guide the team’s younger players. Knight told Jio Cinema:

“I won’t necessarily start with his batting because it kind of looks after itself for the moment. But I would want to pick out the leader in Rohit. Five debutants in the series, several senior players, not available for various reasons.”

“That puts pressure on the captaincy. Put pressure on how you deal with your dressing room. It puts pressure on how you get the best out of those debutants, and all of that is a massive tick. I have been super impressed with the way he’s led the side with the side that was under pressure.”
