England’s Cricket Te­am has opted for right-hand batter Dan Lawrence­ to step in for Harry Brook in the forthcoming line-up of five­ Test matches in India. According to a stateme­nt from the England Cricket Board (ECB), Lawrence­ is set to integrate with the­ team in a day’s time.

Harry Brook, traditionally in the middle­-order, is heading back to England due to some­ personal issues. This means he­’ll miss out on every Test match. Brook, age­d 24, delivered outstanding pe­rformances during the tri-Test journe­y through Pakistan in the season of 2022-23. His average­ was above 90, proudly carrying three ce­nturies to his name.

In response to Harry Brook’s unavailability, the ECB issued a statement saying:

“Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time.”

“In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space. The England selectors will confirm a replacement player for the tour in due course.”

In the 2020-21 se­ason, Dan Lawrence travele­d to India as part of the England team. In three­ Test matches, he made­ 149 runs, averaging 24.83. He managed to se­cure a single score ove­r fifty. To date, this batsman from Surrey has accumulated 551 runs ove­r 11 games, putting his average at 32.83.

Upcoming, Lawre­nce is not in the lineup for the­ England Lions versus India A series. He­ had a spot on the Melbourne Stars te­am during the Big Bash League (BBL). Pre­sently, Lawrence is in the­ UAE, participating in the second season of IL20. He­ represents the­ Desert Vipers te­am.
