The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional T20 league contested by six teams representing six cities in Pakistan. PSL was founded in 2015 with five teams by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). #1 Robbery in PSL 2023
CCTV cameras worth millions of Pakistani rupees were reportedly stolen from the Gaddafi stadium in PSL 2023. It has also been reported that the batteries of the generators installed for lighting at the Gaddafi Stadium have also gone missing. The fibre cables for closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and other stolen things were reportedly worth over ten lakhs (Pakistani Rupees).
#2 The Floodlight tower catches fire due to the 2023 season opening-ceremony mishap.
The season opener of Multan Sultans v Lahore Qalandars was delayed 30 minutes after a mishap due to the fireworks during the opening ceremony leading to chaos. One of the floodlights had caught fire. The fireworks caused the fire during the opening ceremony of the 2023 PSL season. The fire brigade had immediately arrived to douse the flames, causing worrying scenes before the toss. There was no reported case of anyone being harmed by the incident.
#3 James Faulkner leaves PSL over a contract dispute.
Australian all-rounder James Faulkner refused to participate in the Pakistan Super League 2022 over a payment dispute and blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not honouring his contractual and financial obligations. The row between Faulkner and PCB became public when the cricketer tweeted that he would withdraw from PSL’s last two matches because the Pakistan Cricket Board had not honoured his contractual agreement. “I’ve been here the whole duration, and they have continued to lie to me,” he said.
#4 Controversy erupts after Karachi King’s official caught using mobile phone in PSL dugout in 2020
During Karachi Kings’ match with Peshawar Zalmi in the 2020 season, the former’s official was spotted using a mobile phone in the players’ dugout. As per the ICC’s rule, mobile phones are banned from dressing rooms, and players and team management members are allowed to use only walkie-talkies. Many players often use a walkie-talkie in a T20 match to communicate from the dugout to the dressing room.
