Mumbai Indians’ new player Anshul Kamboj got his first wicket in the IPL match against SunRisers Hyderabad. He dismissed Mayank Agarwal at the Wankhede Stadium on May 6. Earlier, Kamboj missed two chances to dismiss Travis Head in the same match.

Anshul Kamboj, 23, replaced Gerald Coetzee in the MI playing XI and entered the attack in the second over of the game. He started well but surrendered a couple of boundaries to Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head.

In his second over, he appeared to outfox Travis Head by rattling his off stump, but was later discovered to have overstepped. Kamboj’s woes continued as he hit another no-ball. He beat Head again, but Nuwan Thushara dropped the catch at third man, giving the Australian another chance.

Anshul Kamboj finally had luck on his side as his length ball avoided Agarwal’s stroke and found the stumps. The right-handed hitter attempted to make room by shifting to the leg side, but utterly missed the pitch.

The pacer had a rocky debut, but he settled into the game and gave only 10 runs in his final two overs. He eventually finished with stats of 1/42, and he bowled far better than his numbers indicate.

He also took the catch to dismiss Nitish Reddy off Hardik Pandya’s bowling, worsening SRH’s batting collapse. Anshul Kamboj’s dismissal of Agarwal set off a batting collapse, with wickets coming often in the middle overs since then.

SRH crumbled from 68/1 to 96/5 in the 13th over. As of writing, the SunRisers are coasting into the death overs, with Shahbaz Ahmed and Marco Jansen negotiating the MI bowling. After 14 overs, the score is 108/5.
