Mumbai Indians (MI) Anshul Kamboj brilliantly cleanbowled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer around his legs during the intense Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 showdown at Eden Gardens on Saturday. The dismissal by Anshul Kamboj sent Iyer back to the pavilion after scoring just seven runs off 10 deliveries plunging the home team into a precarious position at 40/3 in a rainaffected match which has been shortened to 16 overs per side.

The dismissal occurred in the sixth over of the KKR innings. Anshul Kamboj delivered a short-length offering that nibbled into the right-hander. The right-hander played the line, exposing his leg stumps. On its approach to the boundary, the ball hit a leg stump. It was an uncommon dismissal.

Shreyas Iyer appears to be struggling to make an impact with the bat this season. Within 12 matches the 29 year old has gathered a total of 287 runs only achieving a solitary halfcentury.

However, Iyer has performed admirably as a captain in the IPL 2024. He has led KKR to eight wins in 11 games thus far. A victory would ensure a spot in the playoffs. They will attempt to win their first IPL championship after a decade-long absence.

Mumbai, on the other side, is playing for dignity after being ousted in the knockout stage. The five-time champions have only won four of their last 12 matches and will seek to finish the season on a good note.
