Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a fantastic IPL 2023 season. This broke the record for most runs(625) scored by an uncapped batter in the IPL.

In 14 games this season, the batsman has scored 625 runs while averaging 48.08 and striking out 163.61. He has also hit 5 half-centuries and a century, and is having a great time in the world’s biggest T20 tournament.

As you can see, Yashasvi Jaiswal has shattered a number of records this season. Here are five other uncapped batters who scored the most runs in the IPL:

With 625 runs this season, Jaiswal has been the season’s breakthrough player and has already cemented his position in the Indian lineup. The uncapped batter has been outstanding, pounding runs for pleasure and made the batting appear effortless.

This season, the opener has already scored a century and was close to scoring another. He scored his sixth half-century of the season against the Punjab Kings on Friday.

Regardless of what he achieves in the remainder of his career, this is an accomplishment that no one can take away from the Mumbai batter.

2) Shaun Marsh – IPL 2008

Shaun Marsh was one of the first foreign sensations in the Indian Premier League. The Australian opener smashed several records in the tournament’s debut edition, scoring 616 runs at an average of 68.44 and a strike rate of 139.68.

In only 11 games that season, the uncapped batter scored five half-centuries and a century. The fact that his record was just recently broken this season demonstrates the enormity of not only his but also Jaiswal’s accomplishments this season.

3) Ishan Kishan – IPL 2020

Ishan Kishan had a fantastic debut season in 2020. That season, the wicketkeeper batter was at his most lethal, scoring 516 runs at an average of 57.33 with a strike rate of 145.76.

His efforts were spectacular during the season. This earned him an immediate call up to the Indian team. At the IPL mega auction, the Mumbai Indians went all out for him keeping his services for Rs. 15.25 crore.

The Bihar born wicketkeeper has failed to replicate his performance from that season and will be looking to justify his high price sooner rather than later.

4) Suryakumar Yadav – IPL 2018

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the world’s top T20 hitters. He has also earned a name for himself in the world’s finest T20 competition. When the uncapped batter moved to Mumbai Indians, he adapted to a higher-order role and took full advantage to pile up the runs.

He scored 512 runs in 2018, with an average of 36.57 and a strike rate of 133.33. The breakout season was not enough to win him an India call-up that year, but SKY kept his head down and continued to deliver for his team.

5) Suryakumar Yadav – IPL 2020

A player so good that he makes the list twice. Suryakumar Yadav dominated the IPL before being called up to the Indian team. In 2020, the uncapped batter scored 480 runs with a 40 run average and a 145.01 strike rate.

He scored four half-centuries in 2020. The fact that SKY is the only player to appear on this list twice is proof of the potential he shown before going on to accomplish the things he has in his career thus far.
