The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will play a cricket game on Tuesday, April 30, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. This match is number 48 in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.

In their last game, Lucknow lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven runs. Lucknow could not win even after scoring 197 runs. The captain, KL Rahul, scored 76 runs. Deepak Hooda, who bats in the middle order, scored 50 runs.

But, Rajasthan did the task with ease in 19 overs. This was thanks to Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel’s big scores of 71 and 52. They did not get out. LSG will want to win again and get better at this key time.

The team with KL Rahul as the main person is number five in the points table now. They have five wins from nine games. Their run rate is 0.059. If they win against Mumbai here, they will move up to third spot.

The team from Mumbai also lost their last game. They scored 247/9 runs while trying to get 258 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

In the game, the bowling was not good. Jasprit Bumrah only got one wicket with 35 runs in four overs. Piyush Chawla also got one wicket with 36 runs in four overs. These two bowlers did okay. Tilak Varma scored 63 runs and Hardik Pandya scored 46 runs. They did very well with batting for MI in the match.

Hardik Pandya’s team, Mumbai Indians, did not win a lot of games. They only got three wins out of nine matches in the IPL 2024. The big champions came fifth to last with a low score of -0.261 net run rate.

The next game between LSG and MI will be a very close game. Both teams want to get two important points. Here are three matchups that could really impact who wins.

1. Ravi Bishnoi (LSG) vs Suryakumar Yadav (MI)

The LSG team needs to get Suryakumar Yadav out fast. He is a very good batter. He can hit big shots. He can win games by himself. The other team will lose if he stays long. LSG must stop him or he will take the match away from them.

KL Rahul got criticism for allowing leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi only one over against RR. However, the kid may be the Lucknow captain’s best bet in front of Suryakumar.

Bishnoi has a great record against Suryakumar, conceding only 39 runs from 32 deliveries and dismissed him three times in seven IPL innings.

2. Nicholas Pooran (LSG) vs Jasprit Bumrah (MI)

Nicholas Pooran has hit many runs in this season. He has scored 291 runs in nine innings. He has an average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 165.34. He is the second highest run scorer for his team in IPL 2024.

Pooran has an important job to give LSG some runs in the middle and late overs. But, his record against Jasprit Bumrah, MI’s best bowler, could worry Lucknow. Bumrah has dismissed Pooran twice in the IPL. Pooran has only scored 13 runs off 15 balls from Bumrah.

Also, Bumrah has taken the most wickets in this IPL season. He has 14 wickets in nine matches. He has the Purple Cap right now.

3. Mohsin Khan (LSG) vs Rohit Sharma (MI)

In the present IPL event, Mumbai’s opening batter Rohit Sharma has scored many runs. He has scored 311 runs across nine innings, with one century score. His runs have come at a very high strike rate of 160.30 and his average is 38.87.

However, the experienced player has had trouble against left-arm fast bowlers. Sharma has been dismissed by left-arm seamers four times in nine innings this IPL season.

It is fair to say that left-armers have troubled Sharma in IPL 2024, considering six of his eight dismissals have come against them. Two of those dismissals were against left-arm spin bowlers.

The Lucknow Super Giants team would depend on their left-arm seamer Mohsin Khan to get the better of Sharma with the new ball. Khan has taken seven wickets from six matches in this IPL season.
