With Virat Kohli, even Rishabh Pant has improved, learned, and grown significantly over the last few years. No matter how the match plays out, he has a cool head when playing. He is a fearless cricketer who has contributed to some of India’s most recent victories.
It is impossible to anticipate perfection from a player, though. Pant also tends to bat horribly when attempting to perform his natural game. We are now going to take a look at the three moments that made Pant dismiss in not so good situation.
Second ODI- England vs India, 2022
When India started batting against Jos Butler’s England team at Lord’s, they were leading with a prospective victory with a dominant 10-wicket win in the opening ODI.
However, India lost starters Rohit Sharma and Shikhar within the first ten overs due to some fantastic bowling from England’s Reece Topley, who had 247 to chase in 50 overs.
The Men in Blue struggled at 27/2 when Rishabh Pant entered the batting arena. The Delhi player had just put on an outstanding performance against England in the rescheduled Edgbaston Test.
Although he was bowled a duck by right-arm fast bowler Brydon Carse, he could not contribute to the game. As it got more challenging, Pant chipped a low full-toss to mid, and India lost their third wicket in the eleventh over. Since no batsman, even Virat Kohli, could stay on the crease, India fell by a large margin of 100 runs.
U19 World Cup final- India vs West Indies, 2016
In the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, final in Mirpur, Rishabh Pant and fellow southpaw Ishan Kishan opened the batting, where he faced Alzarri Joseph.
He only received one of the first delivery he got. Next, a ball slipped over the outer edge; Pant poked at it but missed. Tevin Imlach, the keeper for the Windies, discovered him straying outside the line. Imlach nearly “reverse-mankad” him when he hit the wickets with an under-arm flick.
Team India put in an outstanding effort but ultimately lost the match by five wickets and three balls remaining.
Third ODI- South Africa vs India, 2022
In the third and final ODI of the series played at the Newlands Cricket Ground, India was given a 288-run goal. South Africa had already won the first two games of the series.
When Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan were in the middle, India appeared to be on track to reach the goal. Dhawan was, however, dismissed by Andile Phehlukwayo at 61.
In the 23rd over of the innings, Rishabh Pant went in to bat with India. The Delhi cricketer decided to go on the attack right away. Soon after, Pant was dismissed with a golden duck.
