The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the IPL 2023 trophy earlier today (May 30) when they defeated the Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Super Kings won their fifth title with a five-wicket win against the defending champions.
The Chennai Super Kings did not have the strongest team in the competition on paper. They were dealt four injury blows this season, with Mukesh Choudhary, Ben Stokes, Kyle Jamieson, and Sisanda Magala missing most of the games. Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana were also absent from the first few games due to national duty.
Nonetheless, MS Dhoni’s excellent captaincy and incredible team effort led the Chennai Super Kings to the IPL 2023 title. Due to the mega auction, there has been a lot of shuffle among IPL teams and several players have left their franchises to join new ones.
