On Friday, February 2, Day 1 of the ongoing second Test between India and England in Vizag saw Yashasvi Jaiswal reach his second Test century with a six. In a performance that featured three sixes and eleven boundaries, the left-handed hitter achieved the milestone in 151 balls. It was his first time taking a test at home.
In the 49th over of the Indian innings, he reached his century off a bowl by Tom Hartley. Jaiswal went to the ball’s pitch with good footwork, hit the delivery over long-on, and finished. The young person appeared thrilled with his accomplishment, took off his helmet, waved his arms, and sent a kiss upwards to commemorate the momentous day.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had previously scored in the first Test match against England, 80 and 15, respectively. Last year, during his debut in the West Indies, he had smashed his first Test ton (171).
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s masterclass gives India the upper hand against England
On Day 1, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant batting display kept India solidly in the match against England. The other hitters, skipper Rohit Sharma (14 off 41), Shubman Gill (34 off 46), and Shreyas Iyer (27 off 59), all had starts but failed to score significantly. The three also failed to produce in the first Test.
For England, rookie Shoaib Bashir made the initial breakthrough by dismissing Rohit Sharma, while James Anderson and Tom Hartley returned Gill and Iyer, respectively.
At the time of writing, the hosts were 180/3 after 51.1 overs, with Jaiswal and debutant Rajat Patidar at the wicket.
England presently leads the five-match Test series, 1-0. Despite being 190 runs behind in the second innings, the Ben Stokes-led team defeated India by 28 runs in the first Test in Hyderabad, courtesy to the bat and ball performances of Ollie Pope and Tom Hartley, respectively.
Pope scored 196 runs, while Hartley took seven wickets in the third and fourth innings, respectively.
