On Saturday, June 22, Team India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant died in an unfortunate reverse sweep during the current 2024 T20 World Cup match versus Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The left-handed batter attempted to continue his assault on Rishad Hossain, but was caught by the fielder, cutting his promising knock short at 36.
Rishabh Pant continued to shine in his new No. 3 role, coming on to bat in the powerplay after Rohit Sharma was dismissed in the fourth over. He initially played second fiddle to Kohli, but hit his maiden boundaries after 10 deliveries. He then shifted gears, striking a flurry of boundaries against Mustafizur Rahman and then Rishad Hossain.
Rishabh Pant attempted to capitalize on his favorable matchup against the leg-spinner by hitting a six and a four in the early half of the 12th over. However, the left-handed batter attempted to take one too many shots for a probable third boundary in a row. He attempted a reverse sweep and made a nice connection, but Tanzim Sakib was at short third.
Have a look at the dismissal right here:
Team India has rebounded admirably despite Pant’s sudden expulsion. In the 12th over, they were 108-4, but Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube came in to help the team to a good total.
Pant remains India’s leading run-scorer in the present World Cup, and his command of the new role has had a significant impact on the team’s unbeaten streak.
Rishabh Pant Falls Playing the Reverse Sweep Against Afghanistan in Crucial Clash
The wicket-keeper has made excellent beginnings and laid a solid framework, but he has struggled to build on them and prosper. He attempted a reverse sweep on Rashid Khan during the last Super 8 stage match against Afghanistan.
Rishabh Pant attempted the unconventional shot, but the fullish delivery struck him squarely on the pads, leaving him plumb LBW. He scored 20 runs from 11 deliveries in that game.
