The Chennai Super Kings’ championship defense in the IPL 2024 ended on May 18. The reigning champions lost a do-or-die encounter against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. CSK needed to score at least 201 runs to qualify while pursuing a target of 219, but they achieved 191/7 in 20 overs, missing out on a playoff position by only 10 runs.

MS Dhoni did his hardest to lead the Chennai Super Kings home with a 13-ball 25. He also struck a 110-metre six, but he gave Swapnil Singh a catch off Yash Dayal’s bowling shortly after that massive maximum.
