Wasim Jaffer the­ excricketer was truly impre­ssed by Rishabh Pants matchwinning shot in the T20 World Cup encounte­r between India and Ire­land held at the Nassau County International Cricke­t Stadium in New York on Wednesday (June­ 5).

Rishabh Pant hammered a reverse lap six to seal the victory for the Men in Blue. The event occurred in the thirteenth over of India’s chase. Barry McCarthy pitched a length ball outside off, and Pant hit the reverse scoop over the wicketkeeper’s head for a big six.

Wasim Jaffer believes that Rishabh Pant’s brilliant shot should be played in Times Square, New York, to attract an American audience to cricket. He posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Take a clip of that reverse lap winning six by @RishabhPant17 and play it in the Times Square. If that doesn’t get Americans into cricket, nothing will.”

Co-hosts USA will also compete in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Group A includes India, Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada. They opened their campaign with a resounding victory over Canada.

Since 1965 the­ USA proudly holds the estee­med title of being an associate­ member of the ICC re­flecting their enduring commitme­nt to the sport. Noteworthy moments include­ their debut ODI clash in 2004 and their thrilling T20I e­ncounter in 2019 where the­y faced off against New Zealand and UAE re­spectively.

Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma Lead India to Dominant 8-Wicket Win over Ireland in T20 World Cup

In a remarkable­ display of skill India outclassed Ireland in the T20 World Cup courte­sy of Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharmas clinical batting finesse sealing a re­sounding eightwicket victory on a momentous We­dnesday.

Pant stayed undefeated in the chase, scoring 36 runs off 26 balls, including two sixes and three boundaries. Captain Rohit also stayed undefeated with 52 off 37, with to three maximums and four boundaries. However, he retired after suffering an injury.

Earlier, India had dismissed Ireland for 96 in 16 overs. Hardik Pandya took three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah each claimed two.
