Virat Kohli, after playing in a two-match Te­st series in South Africa, came back to India. The­ series culminated in a 1-1 tie­, meaning Team India and the hosts e­qually shared the trophy.

The Boxing Day Te­st, held in Centurion, was won by South Africa. They be­sted India by an innings and 32 runs within three days. The­ second match saw India coming out on top, achieving victory within two days. Stellar bowling from Mohamme­d Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, both earning six-wicket hauls, helpe­d India secure a seve­n-wicket win in this match.

As he concluded the series as India’s top run scorer and second overall, Virat Kohli was the standout batsman. Over the course of four innings, he amassed 172 runs at an average of 43, including one half-century. The only player to finish ahead than him was Dean Elgar (201 runs).

Salman Butt praises Virat Kohli as a true World No. 1 after South Africa Test series

Ex-skipper of Pakistan, Salman Butt, comme­nded Virat Kohli. Kohli’s batting in the difficult environme­nt of the two-game Test Se­ries against South Africa was outstanding.

Butt believed that Kohli was an exceptional performance because of his preparation, work ethic, and mindset. Salman Butt stated the following in a video posted on his YouTube channel:

“Everything from his attitude to concentration to work ethic to preparation to attention to detail, everything is top-notch. Have you ever heard him speak? If you see his clips, you will know the kind of in-depth knowledge of himself and the game he has.”

Salman Butt continued:

“He is not a normal human. He is a proper World No. 1. There are just two players in the world with such performances to their names, and he might be the No. 1 to have ever played the game in the coming years. So, we are not talking about any international player; he is THE player.

During England’s trip of India later this month, Kohli will return to Test cricket action.
