Following the game between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 18, a video appeared on X in which Tim David was seen urging the batter, Suryakumar Yadav, to take a review of a ball delivered by Arshdeep Singh after witnessing it on TV from the bench.

Here’s a video:

Due to the apparent disparity between real-time and the TV broadcast, the Mumbai contingent, which included David, Kieron Pollard, and Mark Boucher, persuaded SKY to conduct a review a few seconds later.

Despite PBKS skipper Sam Curran noticing the incident and reporting it to the umpire on the field, the call went upstairs to the third umpire for review. They scrutinized the replay, revealing the ball had crossed the tramline, leading to the initial ruling being reversed – a wide was signaled by the third umpire.

The Sam Curran-led team won the toss and requested the Mumbai Indians to bat first at Mullanpur. After Ishan Kishan (8) was removed early, Rohit Sharma (36) and Suryakumar Yadav added 81 for the second wicket in 57 deliveries.

Surya unleashed his legendary smashes into the backward square leg region throughout his innings, finishing on 78 from 53 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Tilak Varma stayed undefeated on 34 from 18, while Mumbai scored 192. Harshal Patel was the home side’s best bowler, with stats of 3/31.

In response, PBKS got off to a poor start, being reduced to 77/6 in the tenth over. Nonetheless, Shashank Singh (41) and Ashutosh Sharma shown strong intent to keep their team in contention.
