England all-rounder Sam Curran shoved a cameraman away in irritation after being struck for 20 runs in an over during the 2023 World Cup match against Afghanistan on Sunday (October 15) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The event occurred following the ninth over of the match’s first innings. Sam Curran had a dismal day as Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashed him for a couple of boundaries, ending in a 20-run defeat.

Curran then moved to a field near the boundary line, where a cameraman was filming him. When Sam Curran noticed this, he shoved him aside with his hand.

On Sunday, Sam Curran had a horrible day at the job as Afghanistan batsmen overwhelmed him. Because of this, Jos Buttler only handed him four overs. Curran ended up allowing 46 runs in them and returning without a wicket.

Afghanistan posted a competitive total of 284 in the first innings, led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s (80) and Ikram Alikhil’s (58) performances.

England’s hitters then struggled against Afghanistan’s spinners, who bowled them out for 215 in 40.3 overs to assist their team claim a famous victory. Curran failed to live up to his all-rounder status in the English team, scoring only 10 runs from 23 balls.

At the post-match presentation, English captain Jos Buttler commented on the defeat, saying:

“Disappointing, having won the toss and electing to field and me missing the ball down the leg-side early on, tough loss to take and obviously couldn’t set the tone but congratulations to Afghanistan on the win, they outplayed us today. I think, you always think about execution both with the bat and ball, not at the level we wanted to be, consistently enough, that’s the areas we lost the game.”
