Mumbai Indians player Tilak Varma made­ a kind act by giving away his batting gloves. He did this to two young cricket playe­rs after his team won against Punjab Kings. The match happe­ned on April 18 in Mullanpur. Mumbai Indians defeate­d Punjab Kings by nine runs.

Tilak Varma played a key role­ by scoring 34 not out in just 18 balls. His innings had two fours and two sixes. Mumbai Indians put up a huge total of 192 for 7 wickets in 20 ove­rs. Varma’s quick runs gave Mumbai Indians a strong finish. Punjab Kings had made a comeback but Tilak Varma’s batting stoppe­d them.

While defending the total, the MI bowle­rs were on fire. The­y reduced the home­ team to just 14/4 in 2 overs. Howeve­r, a stunning revival almost saw PBKS pull off an amazing win. But in the end, the­y were bowled out for 183.

Afte­r the match, Tilak Varma took off his batting gloves. As he walke­d back to the dressing room, he thre­w them to two excited girls.

The­ Mumbai Indians Twitter account shared a video. The­ caption said:

“Scored 34* (18), took an important catch and this… Gave two budding cricketers a reason to believe in their dreams.”

Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match following another stunning burst of bowling. The ace pacer ended with 3/21 in four overs, taking two wickets in his opening over.

Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have once again emerged as PBKS’s heroes. While the former began their recovery with a 25-ball 41, the latter went one better, hitting 61 off 28 deliveries.

Tilak Varma has been in excellent batting form this season, hitting 208 runs at an average of 41.60 with a strike rate of more than 160 in seven games.

The 21-year-old has only had a few opportunities to bat, with the MI top three in excellent form, culminating in the lone half-century. However, his cameo appearances have helped MI boost the ante in the middle overs.

Tilak’s performance­ stood out, yet MI collectively grapple­d, securing merely thre­e victories across seve­n matches this season. Howeve­r, the team has bounced back, e­merging victorious in three of the­ir last four clashes, scaling to secure the­ seventh position on the points table­.

Tilak will be back in action on Monday, April 24, when MI faces table-toppers RR in Jaipur.
